Wavepool gallery did the remarkable and expanded in 2020 while most of the world was shutting down! They made meaningful impacts in our community through art. I was thrilled to work with Cal Cullen to design and illustrate their annual report. Beginning steps included talking about a theme for the report and what to include. Wavepool is located in an old firehouse — so we decided to lead with their similarity to first responders — in that they jumped to action when the community needed them the most! One of my steps is making a rough thumbnail page layout that I often consult throughout the process. Next was laying out the pages and making line drawings of key people. These portraits used throughout the book, really paired well with the colorful photography. The annual report was printed and was also available in wider distribution as a digital pdf.
