Branding illustrations
Parts and Labor Catering
When Parts and Labor catering got their location in the Oakley Kitchen Food Hall, I was excited to be part of their branding efforts. Jeffrey Miller and Derek Dos Anjos explained their unique name was a nod to the fresh, local food (Parts) and the handmade crafted meals (Labor). They wanted an illustration to express this concept — leading to a hand-drawn picture of the partners in their new kitchen. I visited the chefs in their new space to learn more about their business and take photos for reference to use later for the drawing. The final illustration resides on their home page and I believe it builds trust and community with their customers.
Additionally, they asked for a representation of a “chef’s hand prepping food” to be used along with their logo and/or as decor in their space. I researched chefs working and watched lots of cooking videos. I was inspired to draw a series of many, many hands cutting, chopping, and stirring all sorts of food—Jeffrey and Derek were very happy and shared the drawings with their design firm who in turn made a pattern now on a facade in their space.
