The Vevay Sessions CD illustration and package design
Ricky Nye Music
Cincinnati music icon Ricky Nye worked with musicians in Vevay, Indiana for his eighth studio recording. An enthusiastic admirer of my illustration style Ricky has often seen my process on previous projects unfold, from creative concepting to drawing rough sketches to illustrating the final art. His goal for the cover illustration was to capture the feel of small town Vevay — a rural rivertown on the National Register of Historic Places. I showed him several variations of sketches for discussion and edits, which ultimately led to the cover depicting a picturesque town out of a different time and place — much akin to the music recorded on The Vevay Sessions.
For the cd package design, I was provided a photo of the musicians in front of a red barn. I carried the barn motif to another panel and also the cd itself in order to make the overall look cohesive.
